A few years ago I first discovered Jeni’s ice cream at Whole Foods. From my first taste of Brambleberry Crisp, I was hooked. The Ohio-based ice cream company has scoop shops across Ohio and in Nashville, Tennessee, and a few weeks ago, Jeni’s opened a storefront in the Southport area of Chicago.

On Thursday night, Kim and I met up with Jessica for a scoop of ice cream. I settled on Cloverton, which features the flavor’s namesake cheese from the Laurel Valley Creamery in Ohio, in a waffle cone. Kim ordered the Cinderella Pumpkin, a seasonal flavor that’s both sweet and savory, thanks to its hint of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Today, I found myself back up in Southport for brunch with Amanda and her sister, Gwen. Luckily for me, they didn’t mind a quick stop at Jeni’s so I could purchase a pint!
